UCOPress has published: «Meridies Medii Aevi. Estudios en homenaje al profesor José Luis del Pino»

The Meridies Research Group and UCOPress, the University of Córdoba’s publishing service, have just published Meridies Medii Aevi. Estudios en homenaje al profesor José Luis del Pino, an anthology paying tribute to the academic career of this historian from Córdoba on the occasion of his recent retirement.

The volume brings together eleven contributions by specialists in medieval history, focusing both on the study of the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages – with particular attention to the areas of research that Professor Del Pino has pursued throughout his career, such as territorial organisation, municipal institutions and the history of al-Andalus – and on an overview of his own teaching and research work.

The chapters have been written by his colleagues from the Medieval History Section of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Córdoba, who are responsible for editing the volume, together with researchers from the Meridies group and colleagues from other Spanish and American universities, giving the book a distinctly international character.

José Luis del Pino García has spent his entire teaching career at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at the University of Córdoba, where he has been teaching since 1981, and has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Meridies since its foundation in 1994. His academic work, which focuses on the late medieval history of Córdoba and Extremadura, includes seminal studies on the Córdoba town council, municipal oligarchies, territorial organisation and settlement in the Córdoba countryside.
