EDITORIAL POLICY

UCOPress, aware of the challenges of the current publishing landscape —particularly regarding new digital knowledge formats and scientific evaluation systems— has been adapting its editorial processes to technological, regulatory and academic changes. This transformation has been further reinforced by the implementation of a quality management system certified in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, which enables continuous improvement of procedures, ensuring the efficiency and transparency of its services.

The Press maintains a catalogue of academic collections structured by fields of knowledge, each managed by a collection director and overseen by a scientific committee. Proposed works are assessed through a double-blind peer review system, ensuring academic rigour throughout the editorial process. Final decisions on publication rest with the Editorial Board, a collegiate body responsible for upholding principles of quality and excellence.

Editorial activity is governed by a policy set out in its Internal Regulations, which define the functions of the technical team, the Editorial Board, and the collection directors. This policy is complemented by UCOPress Style Guide, which establishes the standards for manuscripts preparation for submission, in line with the requirements arising from ISO certification and the Seal of Quality in Scholarly Publishing (CEA-APQ), awarded by ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation), FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology) and UNE (Spanish Association for Standardization).

In addition, UCOPress promotes the publication of digital monographs out of collections, subject to external evaluation, as well as works with a more general or informative focus.
Among its specialised editorial lines are collections dedicated to film analysis, high-quality literary translations, studies on gender and equality (in collaboration with UCOIgualdad), series focused on the recovery and study of classical Arabic texts, and collections dedicated to archaeology and history.

UCOPress also collaborates closely with UCOCultura on the publication of exhibition catalogues, with particular emphasis on the annual volume corresponding to the work awarded the Pilar Citoler International Award for Contemporary Photography (Premio Internacional de Fotografía Contemporánea Pilar Citoler), established as one of the most significant cultural publications in its catalogue, the “El ojo que ves” Collection.

For the submission, management and evaluation of editorial proposals, UCOPress uses the Open Monograph Press (OMP) platform, which allows the academic publishing process to be conducted in a structured, transparent and efficient manner.

UCOPress currently manages a total of 32 scientific journals through its Open Journal Systems (OJS) portal, a platform that ensures transparency, traceability and the professionalization of the open-access editorial process, in line with international standards of scholarly publishing..
