Novedad UCOPress-EDUAL «Cancionero de Juan Alfonso de Baena»

UCOPress Editorial de la Universidad de Córdoba and the University of Almería Press (EDUAL) have jointly published a new critical edition of Cancionero de Juan Alfonso de Baena, a seminal work for the study of 15th-century Castilian poetry.

The edition, prepared by professors Ana M. Rodado Ruiz, Carlos Mota Placencia, and Francisco Crosas López, offers a comprehensive revision of the text based on the sole manuscript preserved at the National Library of France (Paris). The work, presented in two volumes and totaling 2,090 pages, includes an extensive introduction, a detailed critical apparatus, explanatory notes, and indexes that facilitate consultation of the poetic collection.

The project addresses codicological, linguistic, and literary issues that required an in-depth review, supported by the most recent research. The critical annotation, prepared with particular care, allows non-specialist readers to approach these poems with greater clarity and context. As a result, the work becomes the most comprehensive update of the Songbook since the last edition published over thirty years ago.

This publication is part of the Colección Estudios Románicos, a collaborative initiative between UCOPress and EDUAL that has enabled the development of joint publishing projects in the field of Romance Philology.
