During the event, now in its 51st year, the works “Del Clasicismo a la Modernidad. Historia de los movimientos cinematográficos (1915-19759)”, y “La vida y la muerte en Pueblonuevo del Terrible (1887-1939)” will be presented.

The University of Córdoba will once again be taking part in the 51st Córdoba Book Fair, presenting two of its publications released in recent months by UCOPress.
Specifically, the following books will be presented “Del Clasicismo a la Modernidad. Historia de los movimientos cinematográficos (1915-1975)”, by Pedro Poyato; and “La vida y la muerte en Pueblonuevo del Terrible (1887-1939)”, written by Patricia Schechter.
The first of these will be presented by Ana Melendo, Professor of Art History at the University of Córdoba (UCO), at Stand 14 on Saturday 24 October at 7.30 pm. The work seeks to construct a history of cinema based on the dialectic between classicism and modernity, terms within which the so-called realism movements – the true precursors of modern cinema – would be situated.
The second of the titles will be presented on Monday 26 October at 5.00 pm, at stand 15, by Elisa Borsari, Director-General of Culture at the University of Córdoba and UCOPress. The book is a biography of Pueblonuevo del Terrible, a mining town situated in what is now the Córdoba town of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, and describes how a 19th-century mining settlement became a prosperous municipality in the interwar period, whose residents rallied to defend the Republic when the Spanish Civil War broke out.
