The Publications Service of the University of Córdoba, jointly with the City Council and within the framework of activities for the 2016 Cultural Capital, has published Maria Rey Carmona’s book “Córdoba en el Romanticismo”. This work joins those in the “Ciudad Escrita” collection, which aims to offer readers an engaging yet rigorous perspective on the city’s past through the lens of culture, and more specifically, to explore the literary aspects that defined Córdoba’s identity over its more than two millennia of existence.
The volume addresses Córdoba’s role from the War of Independence to the Glorious Revolution, discussing aspects related to the end of the Ancien Régime, travelers’ views of Córdoba and its romantic imagery, the modernization of the city, its society, and its culture, concluding with a chapter dedicated to its literary life.
