UCOPress Editorial Universidad de Córdoba, together with UCOCultura and the MBM Foundation, presents the catalogue for the exhibition Desvelo y Umbral by the artist Caroline Krabbe. The exhibition, curated by Federico Castro Morales, can be viewed at the UCOCultura Exhibition Hall from 11 June to 31 July 2026.
Caroline Krabbe is a Danish artist who has lived in Frigiliana (Málaga) since 1981. A self-taught painter, draughtswoman, ceramicist and sculptor, in recent years she has devoted herself to working with clay and developing experimental ceramic glazing techniques.
Caroline Krabbe’s pieces, crafted from high-temperature stoneware, display a visual language of great poetic subtlety, in which fragility, memory and existential reflection on the coordinates of her life and on the connection between her present, the past and the future place her in a delicate balance between the visible and the intimate. In search of the ‘face of lost time’, halfway between a portrait and a mask, Caroline Krabbe shares her characters with us – at times hybrid beings, half-human, half-animal – an accurate embodiment of her ‘interest in states of transformation and in that which cannot quite be defined’.
The publication, superbly designed by UCOCultura and published by UCOPress, is richly illustrated with colour photographs of all the works on display. In addition to the institutional texts, it contains a lucid essay by Caroline Krabbe in which she presents the works on display, and an essay by Federico Castro Morales in which he analyses Caroline Krabbe’s creative universe and highlights the sculptor’s desire to work from a place where the human, the symbolic and the imagined coexist.
Caroline Krabbe was born in Denmark in 1971.
She has lived in Frigiliana (Málaga) since 1981. A self-taught painter, draughtswoman and sculptor, she has devoted herself in recent years to working with clay and developing experimental ceramic glazing techniques. She has exhibited in Denmark, France, Italy and Spain. She managed the Krabbe Gallery between 2004 and 2019. In 2019, she founded the CK Artist Project, with the aim of organising exhibition projects for artists in both Denmark and Spain. As an exhibition curator and artist agent, she is committed to campaigning for greater recognition of the work of women visual artists. She is a member of various professional associations:
