Andalusian university presses commit to collaboration among their imprints

On March 11, a meeting of Andalusian University Presses and Publication Services was held at the Parador de Antequera to compare experiences and lines of action and to seek formulas for collaboration. In a constructive and consensual atmosphere, many topics were discussed that are currently on the agenda of all university presses, not only in Andalusia but throughout Spain.

The situation of each press regarding its series was shared, along with the measures being taken to update and/or launch series lines, with the Editorial Quality Seal in view, and the need for presses to put their “house” in order and reorganize their internal, technical, and organizational structures in light of the new times. In this regard, the guiding principle throughout was to create interaction strategies across Andalusian presses as a whole, in order to be better organized, more competitive, and to present a more modern profile in response to new demands for quality, austerity, and competitiveness.

The Andalusian presses undertook to draft a manifesto document, which would set out all these initiatives in greater detail, addressing such significant aspects as digital journal portals, manuscripts, external reviewers, editorial thematic lines, the organization of fairs, showcases, and exhibitions, and, in general, the creation of a collaborative editorial space that strengthens the Andalusian publishing framework and also strengthens the university publishing landscape based on their contribution as members of UNE, and in response to demands for quality, science, and editorial excellence towards Europe and the Americas.
