The management of hunting resources in the Moorish Band. Morón de la Frontera (15th century)
Synopsis
The regulations governing hunting subsistence in the towns of the Sevillian Moorish Band during the late middle Ages were a relatively important economic aspect in rural and peripheral towns such as Morón de la Frontera. The Morón municipal hunting regulations preserved in the Municipal Archives, many of which have been edited, abound in prophylactic provisions not only for rural areas or habitats but also for the game species in the area, with the aim of guaranteeing the supply of game meat in the locality by controlling prices and severely pursuing and punishing potential fraud by hunters and crossbowmen in the local mountains.
