Synopsis

This book is intended as a source of information for all nature-loving travelers. It explores Chile's most valuable Protected Wilderness Areas. All their habitats (temperate deciduous forest, Mediterranean forest, temperate rainforest, steppe, desert, mountain ranges, wetlands, coasts and seas, and polar regions) are presented to the reader through a selection of the National Parks and Reserves that best represent them. Other protected areas are also described, such as Natural Monuments, Nature Sanctuaries, and Marine Parks (also managed by the Chilean National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), as well as other Natural Areas that, although not legally protected, have high ecological value.
