This volume compiles academic studies in homage to Professor Julián Solana Pujalte, distributed along several lines of research consistent with the honoree's research career. It brings together studies on the figure and work of Erasmus of Rotterdam, works on Latin meter and poetry, and finally, a miscellany of studies on humanism, Neo-Latin literature, and linguistics. The chapters are signed by leading academic authorities in each of these scientific fields, with the aim of paying a sincere and affectionate tribute to an illustrious Latinist, humanist, and professor.
Julián Solana Pujalte earned his bachelor's degree in Classical Philology from the University of Seville in 1976 and began teaching as a full professor of high school the following year. In 1987, the same university awarded him a doctorate, with a thesis on the poetry of Alcuin of York. He won the position of Full Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Córdoba in 1988 and in 2010 the Chair of the same field of knowledge, which he held until his retirement, after which he was appointed Professor Emeritus.
