El bicentenario iberoamericano 200 años-200 imágenes seeks to look back at the events that occurred two hundred years after the start of the independence processes in Hispanic America as a way to also approach the future among peoples who have never ceased to be brothers with the same language, a common past, and a shared culture. To this end, the most significant events are presented in two hundred images that capture in a single glance conflict, struggle, life, hope, death, peace, war, love… In short, the imagery that constructs our memories and our reality.
Miguel Rojas Mix, the editor of the volume, states that traversing 200 years of Ibero-American life in 200 images means crossing that imagery through which the community is built, insofar as nations do not exist until they are told or at least imagined. This book contributes to establishing concepts, symbols, and images as forms of common recognition and as points of reference in a journey through history, but also through institutions, science, new technologies, sports, entertainment, and daily life, preserving in memory the elements that constitute the core of our national and community identity. Alongside the University of Córdoba, UNESCO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Provincial Council, the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Enterprise of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Córdoba City Council, Cajasol, and the 2016 Cultural Capital project have joined forces for the publication of this work.
